Transcending Scientific Materialism and Religious Provincialism
When advocates of scientific materialism criticize religion as an inherently limited expression of cognitive mind, they are criticizing exoteric (or ordinary) religion, the religion that is a manifestation of the cognitive mind (or of human ordinariness). True religion is not a manifestation of the cognitive mind. True religion is not a manifestation (or invention) of any aspect of conditional existence (itself). True religion is a Revelation in the midst of conditional existence.
-Avatar Adi Da Samraj
One of the primary obstacles to authentic spiritual life is the materialistic or "matter-only" doctrine that currently dominates the consciousness of individuals and modern societies. Likewise, the "Creator"-God Ideas of conventional religion that seem to offer an alternative to the materialistic philosophy of science, also represent a deeply entrenched obstacle to the actual Realization of Truth. In these Talks Adi Da Samraj points out the debilitating limitations in both of these kinds of beliefs and presumptions, and Reveals the true Nature of Reality.
